Holy Trinity Church
1833: James Blackburn an architect transported for forgery. He designed the church.
1841: Foundation stone laid by Sir John Franklin.
1847: Building completed.
1848: Church services begin.
The bells weigh 2 ½ tonnes. Rung regularly. First rung Regatta Day 1847. The bell tower is outstanding.
The building is strong and sound but the external sandstone is eroding and wearing and needs continues repair.
Sandstone was donated by the Colonial Government. Domain quarry near Government House.
High roof. Numerous stained-glass windows. Good acoustics.
The church sits atop Trinity Hill. A commanding view of the city of Hobart.
1850: Original organ built. It has been altered, remodelled and enlarged. Present organ incorporates the original organ.
1922: New windows to commemorate 101 parishioners who gave their lives in WW1.
2007: Anglican church sold to the Greek Orthodox church of Australia.
