1869: Tasmanian Government offered 1000 pounds to the first firm to sell 1000 pounds of woollen goods made in Tasmania from Tasmanian wool.
1873: Archibald and David Johnstone moved to Launceston from Scotland.
They established a woollen mill in Launceston and won the prize.
1883: Archibald and David Johnstone moved to Hobart and established a woollen mill in Gore St.
1899: They constructed new mills in Molle St next to Hobart Rivulet. The mils were powered by steam engines and very noisy.
Today: Building houses offices, small businesses and cafes. Near the beginning of a walk up the Hobart Rivulet.
